For approximately 23 years, MORIHIRO SAITO, lived, served and studied with O-SENSEI MORIHEI UESHIBA.

O-SENSEI, at his last moments, entrusted SAITO-SENSEI with the responsibility of caring for the AIKI-JINJA and the DOJO of IWAMA.

That work was done tirelessly by SAITO-SENSEI AND HIS FAMILY, up to the date of his own passing.

By the persistence, consistence and dedication of his way of teaching, he became also the guardian of the BASIC FORM which had been taught to him by the FOUNDER.

He developed a unique system of study of AIKI-KEN, AIKI-JO and TAI-JUTSU.

He left many followers, and among us is specially found his son and heir, HITOHIRO SAITO.

CLIQUE

On the 13th day of the month of May, in the year 2002, approximately 9pm, Brazil time, I received a phone call from the City of Iwama-Japan with the news that MORIHIRO SAITO SENSEI had left us.

I really do not know what, having met and lived with that man, meant to him.
I can only know how this experience has affected me since that first meeting.

From the time that I lived and trained in Iwama, and for the following years up to the current date, I have been trying to understand what he showed us through his classes, seminars and words. I specially seek this understanding through the memory of some personal instructions that I receive directly from him.

The departure of those who are dear to us is always premature, particularly of those who have trailed far on the road we follow.

Without having ever had similar experience in my life, I do not know what to think of this feeling which often surprises me and leaves an inexplicable cold and emptiness in my soul.

There are many who were with him for a long time, especially his son HITORIHO SAITO. Through them, I hope that we will be able to see his light shining, as well as we were able to see the light of O-SENSEI shining through him.

For my part, during my training together with my students, I will be always trying to remember of his teachings to the maximum of my capability.

Personally, within my soul I hope to be able to always remember the sound of his voice booming, and the sensation his heavy hand hitting over my head while correcting my mistakes, and pushing me forward on my discovery into the AIKI path.
Here I leave a message of thankfulness, hopeful to see him again in my dreams.
